Sometimes the desert is red Michelangelo Antonini’s film ”The Red Desert” from 1964 takes place in the industrial landscape of Ravenna. In the slideseries ”Sometimes the desert is red” Ravenna is replaced with the area around Amager StrandPark. Here you will find ”Prøvestenen” and Sundby Gasworks on one side, and on the other the more orderly StrandPark, both surrounded by overgrown plots of land. Scenes from the film have been rephotographed in this area and then transfered to drawings. Together the drawings and photographs becoms a distillate of the film.
